O Quarto das Cinzas is the band’s debut album (and incidentally the bands first name!).
They describe their sound as the result of a mix of influences from electronica to Rock but also seeking inspiration in poetry and fine arts.
Laya Lopes who fronts the band delivers impressionistic and introspective lyrics which, thanks to her sensual voice range, simply float over ethereal electronica punctuated by urgent electric guitar riffs. Her voice is at its most beautiful spectrum on tracks like the opening Amarelolillás and Infinidade whilst the boys, Carlos Eduardo (Guitarist and programmer) and Raphael Haluli (bass) put down their heavyweight arrangements on tracks like “Incontrolavel”
With the track “I Insist”, the band shows a new face as they slide into this track singing in English.
Their album is a mix of genres with the music bringing many sensations and visions and putting the listener in a reflective and instrospective state of mind whilst embracing a sensual and relaxing mood. Live the shows seize different influences resulsting in giving their music modern electronic aspects with a Brazilian touch!

“O Jardim das Horas é outro caso de banda cearense que, felizmente, sempre evolui. E a evolução vai além da mudança mais notória e recente do grupo, que passou a chamar este (bom) disco de “O Quarto das Cinzas” – primeiro nome da banda e com o qual alcançou o reconhecimento que tem hoje. Na verdade, o material que recebi é um promo, que “cumpre a função” enquanto o álbum oficial não sai, já que tem o mesmo repertório.
Vale anotar que Laya Lopes cresceu e ainda cresce muito como cantora, aspecto que valoriza sua performance em estúdio e não lhe falta ao vivo, ao lado do habitual apelo sensual e cênico. Raphael Haluli (baixo) continua sóbrio e seguro. E ambos se afinam muito bem com Carlos Gadelha (guitarra e programações), talvez um dos músicos mais brilhantes do cenário contemporâneo local.
Já rasguei seda total, mas o disco é tão regular que fica difícil elencar altos e baixos. Assim, é fácil apontar boas surpresas: “I insist” é a única faixa cantada em inglês, desce bem redonda e fecha o tempo com forte melodia e peso, contrariando o estereótipo de que a banda hoje é só “paz e amor”. Por outro lado, “Caminhando com a bondade” parece boba pelo título, mas é tão boa que me fez gostar de reggae por 3min17seg.
Músicas como “Amarelolilás” e “Expansão” são hits natos e devem trazer ainda mais público para O Jardim das Horas. De nome novo e perfil light, o trio cearense segue “mineiramente” produzindo.”
